Sun In Sidereal Taurus:

May 18, 2007

Taurus May 15 - June 16

Sun in Taurus May 15th to June 16th

Now the adventure into the enigma of destiny in time begins:

The Sun is in the Constellation of TAURUS:

Life is good when it’s easy predictable and calm. Good to think about all the different ways to understand and describe things. A positive outlook, steady work, good friend’s, good food, good surroundings and interesting things to look foreword to be all that it takes to keep you happy. And when the music is good too, life is close to perfect.

But then the doubts come followed by that awful feeling of indifference and emptiness. Is this the awareness of mortality? It is all you can do to just simply endure going through the empty motions to get from one day to the next until that abominable inner heaviness lifts and the world becomes real and alive once more.

Well liked by most, you find it easy to make your way in the world. People like you, befriend you and will open no end of doors to you; so that the world could easily become your oyster. But you have no ambition as such beyond a desire for security. The only thing that moves you is the love of a thing that gives you well being while you do it. This very lack of cold ambition and the stubborn determination to do only what you love is the foundation of your good character.

Instinctively you are drawn to real estate, organic farming, hotels and restaurants.

And you can do any of these well for the money good company and security. But what gives you real satisfaction will involve things like music, interior design, software design, writing or holding a position as a literature or philosophy professor.

You love good conversation and can discuss nearly anything with anyone. A significant part of your charm lies in the fact that you are genuinely interested in what others have to say. And even when you disagree you have a diplomatic way of doing it and a readiness to laugh at yourself which endears you to others no end.

In love you are ardent sensual and extremely indulgent, capable of prolonged ardor you tend to overindulge and become satiated and bored. But then if your partner is a good conversationalist and good cook you will probably settle right in and stay.

Spiritual meaning is important to you and you are capable of holding very deep and complicated thoughts about it. But fundamentally you are a secret fatalist and doubt mans ability to really change his nature. This is the source of your dark episodes.

If you ever have a direct and undeniable experience of the sacred it will throw you into an extremely intense inner turmoil. Your whole existence will be called into question. And you will have no peace until you become enlightened.

“you will have no peace until you become enlightened” That is a very strong statement. I’d be interested to hear from people who have Sun in Taurus and feel that perhaps this is their current state of being. Also are there some other aspects in the Taurean chart that you believe help to soften the blow so to speak? Or, perhaps you are already having this breakthrough. Please share. P.

I am really glad that you picked up on that.
We are looking here at the Sun in Taurus and by natural extension
the Fixed Cross composed of Taurus Leo Scorpio And Aquarius.
What I wrote here in the context of the Sun in Taurus, speaks to a crisis in consciousness and the capacity to invoke that crisis in others. Of course the Sun as the seat and ground of Self identity can experience a crisis in consciousness in all 12 Sidereal Signs but in each case the way of it is different.
Let me cite three examples that may illustrate what we are discussing here:
Oswald Spengler who wrote: ‘The Decline of the West’ was born on May 29th 1880.
Rachel Carson who wrote: ‘Silent Spring’ was born on May 27th 1907.
Immanuel Velikovsky: who wrote ‘Worlds in Collision’ was born on June 06th 1895.
If you don’t know who these people are a google search will quickly find them.

A question arises: What was going on in the background of these three remarkable Taureans while they were Rationalising and articulating the results of a devastating insight?

The fact of Western Sidereal Astrology is evident to anyone who studies it.
Sun sign astrology folks often suffer from “a little learning is a dangerous thing”

You could be Sidereal Taurus but by having Mercury and Venus ahead of the Sun in Sidereal Gemini you may still be fooled into thinking that you are Tropical Gemini.

People born in the Fixed cross Taurus Leo Scorpio Aquarius do seem more deeply rooted spiritually than the natives of the other two crosses the Mutable and the Cardinal. And this is particularly so when these Sidereal signs are on the Angles of the chart namely the Ascendant and Midheaven.

I get it about “crisis in consciousness” Taureans, having known a few.

My question is: How does this crisis relate to enlightenment?

I always wondered, if you don’t mind my asking, is the sun sign the main sign that determines the personality? I’m curious to know, how do the other planets in our charts affect us?

redtantra, you raise a number of interesting points: Certainly the whole issue of attribution is a really interesting one. Attribution in this case to be taken as “I see myself in my Chart. I do not see myself in my Chart.”
The madding circularity of Astrology has this well covered, for instance in my considerable experience I have never know an individual with a severely ‘afflicted’ background Mercury who was able to get much out of Astrology.
After all Astrology deals with multi-level meaning in time, an impaired sense of co-coordinative intelligence doesn’t ‘get’ Astrology at all.
This is not merely a case of ‘damning the critics’ because of course the Astrologer wishes that they did ‘get it’ and could benefit by it.
I think there may be something to what you say about the Fixed Cross and spirituality, on the other hand I have met authentically spiritual individuals with very strong configurations and none of them involving the Fixed Cross.
How does a crisis in consciousness in Taureans lead to enlightenment? Because once set in that direction that leads out beyond consensus reality they just wont quit. Stubborn integrity comes to mind.

    Insatiable Says:

“I always wondered, if you don’t mind my asking, is the sun sign the main sign that determines the personality? I’m curious to know, how do the other planets in our charts affect us?”

The answer to that is ‘yes’ and ‘no’ *smile*. Yes in the sense that the Sun is to be taken as the foundation or essence of “self-identity” but the other planets in the chart can, by being ‘strong’ and in the Foreground outshine the Sun as it were.

You might like to read almost anything by Cyril Fagan and Donald Bradley aka Garth Allen. There is also soon going to be a page on this website describing the meaning of the planets.

If you read around in the posts and pages that are already here there is some information either directly stated or implied about the meaning of the planets.
